Change

We are part of an organization which has just made a change in leadership. The founder and chairman has retired and someone new has taken his place. This should be exciting times for all but many struggle with it. It won't be the same and it shouldn't be.
Change and transition are inevitable in life. We are in a continual process of change and are therefore in a continual process of transition. Each and every stage of life is arrived at with some kind of change and transition.
Why is it we as humans struggle so with change? What is our problem with transition?
The strange thing to me as a Christian is to see how many other Christians struggle with change fully knowing that God is unchanging, so any change that takes place must take place in us. God isn't moving toward perfection, He is perfect. He is all He will ever be. There is no graduation or ascension to the next level for Him. He is already at HIs zenith. He continually lives there. He is always there. He isn't better one day than another.
So in life and in our relationship, it is me which will experience change, if I am going to grow with Him and flow with Him. I am the one that has to change. If we are involved in anything pertaining to this world and people, it will have to change also. What is good for today will not survive the scrutiny of tomorrow. What works in on generation will be archaic to the next.
This is where evolution fails because it makes the assumption of sameness; the right combination of everything kept in the same place for billions of years. Yet we know, nothing stays the same. The earth is in a constant state of change and movement. Seasons, patterns, movement demonstrate there are few constants. I want to be careful here as it is also important to realize there is order. The order doesn't change; gravity is still gravity, the earth still spins on it's axis, water vapor still rises to form clouds, the wind patterns still follow their courses.
So we are faced with what we will do in change and how we will face it. We we accept it gladly or fight it every step of the way.
